About Halo
What is Halo of Voices?
Halo of Voices is a private place for families and the people they love to capture, preserve, organize, share, and experience their real voices.
Record Dad telling one of his silly stories. Save Grandma's infectious laugh. Keep the little things Mom says in the way only she can say them.
Over time, those voices become your family's Halo—a living collection of the personalities, stories, laughter, and everyday moments that make your family sound like your family.
Is Halo a social network?
No.
A Halo is a private shared space for the people you invite. There are no public profiles, followers, public feeds, or strangers browsing your family's voice memories.
Is Halo cloud storage?
Halo securely stores the voice memories needed to provide the service, but Halo isn't designed to feel like a folder full of audio files.
Everything is organized around people, voices, and the experience of hearing them again.
Does Halo store photos or videos?
Halo is built for voices.
Profile photos may be used to represent people inside Halo, but Halo is not a photo or video storage service.
If you save a voice from a supported video, Halo extracts the audio needed for the voice memory rather than preserving the video as part of your Halo.
TopCreating Voice Memories
How do I add a voice to Halo?
There are three ways:
Record a Memory — record a voice directly in Halo.
Voice from a Video — choose a supported video and Halo extracts its audio.
Voice from a Recording — add an existing supported audio recording.
Whichever way the voice enters, it becomes a voice memory that can live inside your Halo.
How long can a voice memory be?
A voice memory can be up to 5 minutes long.
Halo is designed around meaningful moments rather than hours-long recordings.
Can I save an old recording?
Yes. If you already have a supported audio recording, you can bring that voice into Halo.
Can I save someone's voice from a video?
Yes. Halo can take the audio from a supported video and turn it into a voice memory.
The video itself is not stored as part of the voice memory.
Can I record someone else?
You should only record, upload, or share a person's voice when you have the rights or permission necessary to do so.
Recording-consent laws can vary depending on where you live and the circumstances of the recording.
TopYour Family Halo
What is a Halo?
A Halo is the private space where your family's voices and members come together.
It contains the people in your Halo, the voices available to your family, your Library, Vault, playlists, favorites, and other shared experiences.
How many family members can join my Halo?
Unlimited.
Halo memberships are designed around the Halo—not around charging for every person you invite.
No family member should be left behind because adding another person costs more.
How does someone join my Halo?
An authorized member can invite them through Halo.
Halo creates an invitation for that person, and they use it to join the Halo with their own account.
Can someone belong to more than one Halo?
Yes. Someone may participate in more than one Halo when they have been properly invited or have created another Halo of their own.
What is the Keeper?
Every Halo has one Keeper.
The Keeper has additional responsibility for administering the Halo, including certain membership and Halo-management functions.
Think of the Keeper as the person looking after the Halo—not the owner of everybody else's voices.
Can the Keeper be changed?
Yes.
The Keeper role can be transferred to another eligible member of the Halo.
That means a family's Halo doesn't have to remain permanently tied to the person who originally started it.
Can a member start their own Halo?
Yes.
Being part of someone else's Halo doesn't prevent you from creating a Halo of your own.
TopLibrary
What is the Library?
The Library contains the voice memories your Halo can hear now.
It's where you can find voices, listen to recordings, revisit favorites, and experience the collection your family is building together.
Can I organize voice memories?
Yes. Halo includes ways to organize and revisit voices, including playlists and favorites.
Can the family listen to the same recordings?
Voice memories shared within a Halo can be heard by authorized members according to the permissions and availability of that memory.
TopVault
What is the Vault?
The Vault is for a voice you don't want to release today.
Instead of placing the recording immediately into the Library, you can seal it in the Vault for a future moment.
What's the difference between the Library and the Vault?
It's simple:
Library = voices available now.
Vault = voices waiting for later.
What happens when a Vault memory is ready?
When its release conditions are met, the intended recipient can see that the voice is ready for them.
Halo can then present that voice as something that has been waiting for that moment.
Can I choose when a Vault voice opens?
Halo supports release choices available within the Vault, including supported future-date options.
The exact choices available are shown when you seal the voice.
Can the recipient hear a Vault recording early?
Not while the recording remains sealed and unavailable to them under the Vault's access rules.
TopListening Room
What is the Listening Room?
The Listening Room is Halo's immersive way of experiencing a voice.
The person becomes the center of the screen while Halo's Living Light responds to the voice you're hearing.
It's designed to make listening feel intentional rather than like pressing Play on an audio file.
Does the Listening Room change the recording?
No. You're still hearing the real voice recording.
The Living Light is a visual experience that responds while the recording plays.
Does Halo use AI to recreate the person's voice?
No.
Halo preserves and plays real voice recordings.
Halo does not turn someone's stored voice memories into an artificial clone of that person's voice.
TopPrivacy & Security
Who can hear the voices in my Halo?
Halo is designed so voice memories are available only to authorized members according to Halo's access controls and the permissions associated with the content.
Are my voice memories public?
No. Halo is not a public content platform.
Your Halo is a private environment for its authorized members.
Does Halo sell my voice recordings?
No.
Halo does not sell your voice recordings.
Does Halo use my family's voices for advertising?
Halo does not use your private voice memories to target advertising to you.
How are voices protected?
Your voices stay private within your Halo.
Voice memories are transmitted securely, stored privately, and protected by Halo's access controls so only authorized members can access them.
No online service can promise absolute security, but protecting the voices entrusted to Halo is part of how the platform is designed.
Can Halo create an AI voice from my recordings?
No. Halo is about preserving real voices, not manufacturing artificial versions of them.
TopMembership
Does every family member need to pay?
No.
One Halo membership supports the Halo and its family members.
You don't pay separately for every person you invite.
What membership plans does Halo offer?
Halo's planned membership options are:
Glint — 50 stored hours + 100 monthly family listening hours — $5.99/month
Spark — 100 stored hours + 200 monthly family listening hours — $9.99/month
Glow — 200 stored hours + 400 monthly family listening hours — $13.99/month
Shine — 400 stored hours + 800 monthly family listening hours — $17.99/month
All plans include Halo's core features and unlimited family members.
What's the difference between stored hours and listening hours?
Stored hours are the total amount of voice-memory capacity available in your Halo.
Monthly family listening hours measure how much listening is available across the Halo during the applicable monthly period.
They are separate allowances.
Do different plans unlock different features?
No. The membership ladder is based primarily on capacity.
The idea is simple: Halo shouldn't hold back meaningful features just because a family chooses a smaller plan.
Is there a free trial?
The current planned free trial is 14 days for eligible new Halos.
It includes:
- up to 2 hours of stored voice memories;
- up to 4 hours of family listening;
- full Halo features; and
- unlimited family members.
What happens if I reach the trial's 2-hour storage limit?
Your existing voice memories remain available to play.
To add additional recordings, the Halo would need to begin an eligible paid membership.
Can every new Halo get a free trial?
A particular Halo can receive a maximum of one free trial.
Additional eligibility rules may apply to prevent repeated creation of free trials.
Can I start a membership without taking the free trial?
Yes. When available, an eligible person creating a Halo can choose to begin membership immediately rather than starting with the free trial.
